In 1979, The Green House Preschool and Kindergarten started simply as a white building with a green door in Fort Lee, NJ. As children and teachers passed through that door, so began a tradition of excellence in preschool education.

In 2012, a second location in Ridgefield was opened to provide for our expanding clientele and the opportunity to further our commitment to young children and their parents.

Two schools and decades later, we are still proud to continue our tradition and commitment to young learners with certified staffing, balanced literary curriculum, national accreditation standards, and the most modern facilities.

Our Philosophy for the education of young children is one that takes into account each child’s individuality.

Our Goal is simple: to instill in each child a love for learning as well as for themselves. By providing a safe, loving, and creative environment, they can express themselves and learn through their experiences.

Our Mission is to support our young learners as they develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Furthermore, it is with tireless dedication that our professional staff of teachers and caretakers support the development of the “whole child.”

The Green House Preschool and Kindergarten has enjoyed a reputation that has honored us with thousands of families that have returned year after year. We take great pride in knowing that families have a choice in securing a quality preschool education for their children and that time and time again, they choose The Green House Preschool and Kindergarten for their family’s needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What skills will my child develop in pre-kindergarten?
Children build basic skills in reading, math, socializing, motor coordination, and emotional control through play and guided learning. We support these milestones daily.
How can I tell if my child is making friends and developing socially?
Look for signs like sharing, taking turns, and joining group activities. We foster this by encouraging cooperative play and communication.
Why is free choice or choice time important for young kids?
It lets children pick what interests them, which helps boost independence, focus, and enthusiasm for learning. We guide them gently during this time.
What happens if my child doesn’t nap during rest time?
Non-napping children do quiet activities such as reading or drawing to rest without disturbing others. We supervise and support them throughout.
How do teachers monitor and support my child’s learning progress?
Teachers observe and document each child’s growth, adjusting activities as needed. We share insights with families to keep them informed.
